CSR

Our commitment to health and the planet

SPENGLER MEDICAL committed to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach well before it became a regulatory requirement or a market expectation. Convinced that economic performance and environmental and social performance are inseparable, the company has made sustainable development a structuring pillar of its overall strategy, from its industrial processes to its supply chain, including its administrative and social practices.

To steer and accelerate this momentum, SPENGLER MEDICAL also created a dedicated CSR Manager position, reflecting the Group’s determination to embed its commitments in a structured, measurable approach. Our approach is also one of continuous improvement: every decision, every project, and every innovation is assessed in light of its environmental, social, and economic impact, to ensure that caring for human health goes hand in hand with caring for our planet.

Concrete & public initiatives

Membership in the United Nations Global Compact since October 2021, annual carbon footprint assessment, commitment to the SBTi initiative to reduce emissions, and formalization of a CSR roadmap developed with a consulting firm specializing in sustainable transformation.

Taking action to reduce our impact

SPENGLER MEDICAL is committed to the environment

SPENGLER MEDICAL is taking a decisive step in its environmental responsibility approach by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the global reference framework that enables companies to set greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with climate science.

Within this framework, SPENGLER MEDICAL publicly commits to reducing its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, i.e., its direct emissions linked to its activities and energy consumption.
This commitment is not a statement of intent: it is part of a quantified trajectory, verified and validated by an independent body, consistent with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C set by the Paris Agreement.

For SPENGLER MEDICAL, a manufacturer of precision medical instruments, caring for human health cannot be separated from caring for the health of our planet.
It is with this conviction that we take concrete, measurable action to build a more responsible and more sustainable medical industry.

Eco-packaging: Rethinking our packaging

Packaging is often the first point of contact between a product and its user, but it is also one of the most significant sources of plastic waste in the logistics chain. At SPENGLER MEDICAL, we have chosen to undertake a deep and concrete transformation of all our packaging, convinced that every detail matters in reducing our environmental footprint.

This approach translates into tangible actions at every stage of packaging. We removed the plastic bags used to package our cuffs and replaced them with FSC-certified kraft paper envelopes, guaranteeing a responsible and sustainably managed forest origin.
The plastic films wrapping our products have been removed, as have the plastic straps on master cartons, whose logistical usefulness no longer justified their environmental impact. Inside the boxes, traditional foam inserts have been replaced with recycled cardboard inserts, just as effective at protecting products during transport.

Finally, we made a structuring decision in terms of sourcing: our premium-looking cardboard boxes, previously imported from Asia, are gradually being replaced by recycled cardboard packaging manufactured by European carton makers. While this new packaging adopts a more understated aesthetic, it embodies a deliberate choice consistent with our values: prioritizing environmental responsibility and industrial proximity over superfluous appearance.

Focus on our carbon footprint

Measuring to take better action

Convinced that environmental responsibility is inseparable from a serious and sustainable corporate approach, SPENGLER MEDICAL has measured and monitored its carbon footprint every year for the past 5 years.
A carbon footprint assessment is a tool for accounting for greenhouse gas emissions generated by all of a company’s activities—from purchasing and transport, day-to-day operation of the company’s premises, and the design of our products through to their use—making it possible to identify the main sources of emissions and define concrete reduction levers.

Keen to go beyond a purely declarative approach, we wanted to fully take ownership of this tool: while this calculation was initially entrusted to an external consultant, SPENGLER MEDICAL has gradually developed the necessary in-house skills to carry it out independently.
This upskilling reflects our determination to embed the reduction of our carbon footprint in a sincere, controlled, and lasting approach, in service of a healthcare sector that must set an example.

Putting people at the heart of our commitment

At SPENGLER MEDICAL, social responsibility is built with the women and men who make the company every day. Gender equality, training, well-being: three pillars that structure our people-focused commitment.

Gender equality

A commitment to balanced representation at all levels of the company, from production to management.

Training & skills development

Investing in each employee’s career path, as we did by bringing our carbon footprint assessment in-house.

Well-being at work

Working conditions that reflect the values of a company whose business is caring for others.
