Our History

Our story begins in 1907. It is a reflection of the expertise and life experiences that make it what it is today.

1907 - The Spengler company is founded in Paris

Founded in Paris in 1907 by Émile Spengler, a visionary industrialist with a passion for medicine, the house of Spengler has embodied innovation in diagnostics since its inception, focusing on the importance of tools and technology versus clinical practice alone.

Its conviction is simple yet ambitious: a good diagnosis begins with a good instrument.

1911 - Invention of the first manual sphygmomanometer

Founded in Paris in 1907 by Émile Spengler, a visionary industrialist with a passion for medicine, the house of Spengler has embodied innovation in diagnostics since its inception, focusing on the importance of tools and technology versus clinical practice alone.

Its conviction is simple yet ambitious: a good diagnosis begins with a good instrument.

1949 - DDM, a family-run factory in the heart of Val-de-Marne

In post-war France, the reconstruction of the industrial fabric accelerated. It was in this context that Lucien Dessillons founded DDM in Maisons-Alfort in 1949.

Passed down from generation to generation, the company preserved this founding commitment to technical excellence for over seventy years. In 2010, the company moved to Castelculier, near Agen.

1980 - Holtex: reliable tools without financial compromise

The Holtex adventure began in 1980 with its founder Jean Le Bas, who transitioned by chance from textile import-export to an entrepreneurial venture by partnering with a French manufacturer to offer a range of medical instruments combining quality and affordable prices.

From this conviction came the progressive development of Holtex, which would expand its offering to include all the essential equipment for medical practices, nurses, doctors, and healthcare facilities.

1982 - Holtex partners with de Boissy

Just two years after its creation, Holtex formed a partnership with de Boissy, a French house specializing in leather goods.

Together, the two companies built a solid reputation among healthcare professionals for medical luggage essential for home visits, a symbol of local and trusted medicine.

1991 - Creation of the company ECM

In Limoges, or more precisely in Saint Léonard de Noblat, Roger MOMART founded Électro-Concept Médical, ECM. The company develops and manufactures patient warming devices for the hospital environment. Since its inception, the company’s goal has been to maintain in-house control over the production of its devices to guarantee optimal quality and reliability.

In 2010, ECM was acquired by DDM, which would continue the “Made in France” tradition

2012 - Luxamed: German precision at the service of medical lighting

In Germany, three partners — Harald Bühler, Bernhard Winter, and Matthias Dubb — founded Luxamed GmbH & Co. KG in 2012 with a clear ambition: to make “Made in Germany” an absolute standard in the field of medical lighting.

Otoscopes, examination lamps, laryngoscopes, high-performance LED devices — every product is designed, assembled, and inspected in Germany.

In a decade, the brand established itself as a reference in Germany and Europe and began to expand into international markets.

2019 - Merger of Spengler and Holtex

In 2019, Spengler and Holtex joined forces to form a major player in the medical device sector.

This strategic alliance created a significant commercial entity, capable of offering healthcare professionals a truly comprehensive range covering diagnostics, measurement, and office equipment.

2021 - GSH: a common banner for a group in motion

The GSH (Groupe Spengler Holtex) brand was launched in 2021 to unite the entire product portfolio under a single banner.
Behind this brand, the group’s distribution label, lies a structured, streamlined offering designed for the daily needs of healthcare professionals.

2022 - The SPENGLER GROUP holding company: establishing a framework for growth

In 2019, Spengler and Holtex joined forces to form a major player in the medical device sector.

This strategic alliance created a significant commercial entity, capable of offering healthcare professionals a truly comprehensive range covering diagnostics, measurement, and office equipment.

2023 - DDM and ECM join the group: "Made in France" reinforced

In 2023, SPENGLER GROUP acquired DDM and ECM, two French manufacturers whose histories date back to 1949 and 1991, respectively.

These companies represent rare industrial expertise and production capacities rooted in French territory.

2024 - Full integration and strategic alliance with Luxamed

2024 is a pivotal year for the group. The operational integration of SPENGLER, DDM, ECM, and HOLTEX is being finalized.

At the same time, the group acquired Cardionet, a company specializing in the distribution of functional exploration equipment for cardiology practices and cardiac rehabilitation centers.

In the middle of the year, the group formed a strategic alliance with LUXAMED, the German specialist in high-performance medical lighting. This alliance connects two cultures of excellence — French and German — and significantly expands Spengler Group’s presence in European and international markets.

2025 - GSH becomes SPENGLER MEDICAL

When GSH becomes SPENGLER MEDICAL, it is the affirmation of a completed transformation.
In less than ten years, the group has evolved from a bilateral merger into a structured multi-brand group, present in France, Germany, and international markets.

Behind this name lies the legacy of Émile Spengler, founded over 115 years ago in Paris.

Also of note this year is the merger of Cardionet with the rest of the company and the rebranding of the De Boissy brand, which becomes Maison de Boissy.
